Dream and reading journals are a very important aspect to personal growth. However once you get to a certain point most people stop. The bad thing about stopping is that we often forget to start again. Journals have given me great results several times throughout my le, and I urge you keep one while doing any psychic work, even it's an informal sort of notebook.
The other night I had a visitation that was very dramatic and out of this world. I am very glad that I had a pen and a piece of paper on the nightstand to jot down notes. So even you stop or refuse to keep a formal journal, at least keep a notebook and a pen on the nightstand.
I haven't formally kept a dream journal since I was in my early twenties. Back then I analyzed everything because my le was the accumulation of lots of bad decisions. I was wrestling with a lot of inner demons. My dreams were very violent and full of conflict with lots of imagery to be explored. I kept a very formal dream journal out of necessity. Even though I no longer keep a 'Dream Journal' I still keep paper and a working pen next to the bed.
The exploration of imagery and feelings that occurred in my dream space helped get me in touch with my personal symbolism and what things mean to me. When I know the symbolism of what certain images and feelings mean to my spirit, it gives other spirits a basis of communication and a foundation of a non-verbal language.
The better you know yourself the better you will be able to understand the messages from the others. Of course there are universal symbols that you can study and learn that help facilitate the non-verbal communication. But as you explore further, you will understand that certain things will have a unique connotation to you.
When I started reading cards as a teenager I kept a journal, and later in my early twenties I started a formal tarot reading journal. It was interesting to look back over readings and the card layouts and my interpretations of the layout. It also was a little spooky when the accuracy was dead on.
Once I did some psychic spying on a friend. The reading told me that he was leaving his current job. We hadn't talked in a while and the last I knew he was very happy in his job. I talked to him a week later. He had just resigned the previous day. I looked back over the tarot journal and re-did the layout. I understood then that there was no magic card that said he was leaving his job.
Even though the reading was very accurate, I could have come up with a hundred other interpretations, but I had come up with the correct one. The cards are just a tool for Spirit to work throug h. I realized that day that two th ings greatly shted for me. The first was that psychic work is very real and very powerful; we're all connected, and there are no secrets. The second was that spying on people is a violation of their process and space.
The journal played a key role that caused me to leap forward in my development. I hadn't had the journal to reference the reading I probably would have brushed it off.
I was once on a scuba diving trip, and a Dive Master told me that he stopped keeping a log of his dives after the first couple of years. He said that he wished he would have kept with it as it would have helped him recall some of the phenomenal trips he had taken. I know that I wish I had kept a formal journal about my mediumship readings. It would be fun to go back and read them.
Keeping a formal journal of your readings and experiences does two things. First, it keeps a log so information from one reading can easily build from the previous one. Second, it helps you to literally see your progress and abilities. I was a little taken aback when my Guides told me to write this book. My first thought, I was completely unqualied. I had no idea of how many medium style readings I'd done, until I started putting them to paper. Just taking the time to write out this book has caused me to grow in ability because my confidence level is now higher.
Please keep a journal or a notation system; it can greatly assist your growth. I know that it has greatly assisted mine.
